1575 – cGaming Vendor/Suppliers
In the last edition of The View, we took the opportunity to thank and acknowledge all our Vendors/Suppliers for their continuing support and resources through the Covid-19 Pandemic. In that announcement, in error I missed off colleagues at IGT and therefore I wanted to correct that error and thank Mr. Chad Helm and the Canadian Team for their work, efforts and insights through this period. |

1576 – Health & Wellness
The OLG PlaySmart Team has been reaching out to all our Member Centres with a ‘Thanking You This Holiday Season’ bulletin, setting out useful tips for our Team Members. This is a reflection of how the OLG’s cGaming - PlaySmart Team, led by Ms. Megan Nicholson, is responding and assisting the cGaming Centres in an efficient manner during these unusual times.
Having open communication with this team, and seeing how adaptable and solution driven they have been during Covid-19 Pandemic, enforces all the time and effort the CGAO, OLG and RG-C have placed on stakeholder/relationship building over the last 10 years.
I would flag again the importance of the www.Play-Smart.ca, which provides numerous educational and informational platforms and is a critical piece in the wider awareness campaign we have been engaging in for the last few years. It is about providing information for informed and wise choices of our consumers to maximize their experience and enjoyment. |

1577 – CGAO – General Members Meeting
We held our General Members Meeting on Tuesday, 17th November 2020, via the Zoom Platform. It was encouraging to see such a large audience, especially during this extremely challenging and difficult trading/operating period.
The Chair & CEO went through our normal business but also pivoted to the work-plan for 2021, which will see new resources brought to bear to deal with the evolving work ahead. This re-enforces the commitment of the CGAO in forging forward for the sector.
We remain committed to the principles of Partnership we began back in 2004 with the OLG, OCGA, AGCO and Municipalities. It requires work to keep this unique structure moving forward. |

1578 – Canadian Gaming Association - Leadership & Outstanding Contribution Award
It was announced on the 18th November 2020 that the 2020 Industry Leadership & Outstanding Contribution Award has been awarded to Mr. Jean Major.
After more than three decades, guiding and influencing Charitable Gaming in this province, this is no stranger to the CGAO. During the last 16 years as CEO & Registrar, he has re-shaped and re-positioned the organization as a modern Regulator – NOT a perfect Regulator. As Jean has said, it will continue to evolve into the future beyond his time.
The CGA - Chair of the Board of Directors [Ms. Carrie Kormos] said – On Behalf of the CGA’s Board of Directors and the Canadian Gaming Industry, we congratulate Jean on this achievement and thank him for his years of dedication, collaboration and leadership in building the AGCO into a world leader amongst gaming regulations. Please join us as we wish him continued success in his new role as Chief Executive of the Bermuda Casino Gaming Commission.
A virtual presentation was made to Jean on Tuesday, 24th November 2020, led by Ms. Carrie Kormos, Mr. Paul Burns and Mr. George Sweny. |

1579 – iGaming (Ontario)
The [Ontario] Minister of Finance, Hon Rod Phillips, announced in the Budget - Nov ’20 that it would be introducing legislation giving the AGCO authority to ‘Manage & Conduct’ iGaming and licence Private Sector Operators.
This is the beginning of a process and the CGAO is ensuring that our members, as Land-base [Community Gaming] Operators of current venues, are given access to this platform once the formal structure is in place.
We want to acknowledge Minister Phillips announcement on this initiative. |

1580 – Charity Awareness Strategy
Our colleagues at the OCGA have issued the first stage in forging a broader understanding and awareness of the unique platform that is produced through our Community Gaming Centres, which see over 2,000 community based Non-Profit Groups receive direct and immediate funding. Last year this hit the amazing record of over $C50m. We wish to acknowledge Ms. Mary O’Neill for her leadership of the initiative within the OCGA. |
