1342 – Mr. Ray Loiselle - Bingo One (Sudbury)

It is with deep regret we announce that our long-time colleague, Mr. Ray Loiselle of Bingo One [Boardwalk Gaming Centre] Sudbury, recently passed away. Those who had come in contact with Ray over the years would know he was a true gentleman in business and in his day-to-day life. He built a very successful bingo centre in the Greater Sudbury market and was able to navigate the transition to a successful ‘marketplace’ partnership that saw Sudbury be one of the first c-Gaming pilot venues in the province.

Ray had the remarkable ability to mix commerce and community. Yes, he had a successful business that provided meaningful employment but this was balanced by his ability to quietly give back to the community, funding numerous community projects over the years, which he will be remembered for well into the future.

Mr. Michael Orser [CGAO – Director], who was a business partner of Ray’s, joined our numerous colleagues in Sudbury who attended his service a week or two ago and represented the CGAO Board at that service.

He was a well-liked, well respected man, a man of honour who quickly gained the trust of others he came into contact with and will be missed by all his colleagues in the industry. Naturally our thoughts go out to Ray’s family and their loss.

1343 – Welcome to our New Member

It is with great pleasure that we announce the introduction of a new member to the CGAO, IGT (Canada). A global supplier of gaming product and a well-known company, IGT was recently approved entry at our last General Members Meeting. This further strengthens our Supplier Membership base.

If you would like to know more about IGT you can check out their web site www.IGT.com. We look forward to introducing their key point man, Mr. Chad Helm – Director of Gaming (Canada), at our next General Members Meeting in February 2017.

1344 – Delta Gaming Centre - Peterborough

It was tremendous that on the 25th November we completed our last Community Cheque Presentation for 2016 at the Delta Gaming Centre – Peterborough. This cheque was for $C11m, which has been raised and delivered in real dollars to the community at large. It was so pleasing to see the local MPP [Minister Jeff Neal] and Mayor [Daryl Bennett] of the city in attendance.

In their comments, Mr. Rick Gray (VP c-Gaming-OLG) and Ms. Lynn Cassidy (ED-OCGA) expressed the continuing progress and value the Centre brings to the community, both in terms of the numerous charities who benefit but also the level of investment and employment that is generated at the Centre.

It was unfortunate, and rare, that Mr. Cam Johnstone (CEO- Delta Gaming Group) could not be in attendance at one of his Centres presentations but he had Ms. Isabel McMurrich (Marketing & Brand Manager – Delta Gaming Group) representing the company at the event.

Congratulations to all concerned at Peterborough on a job well done!

1345 – Stakeholder Engagement Day - AGCO

On the 9th December 2016 the AGCO will be hosting the first of a new series of Stakeholder Engagement events that will be bringing all the AGCO’s stakeholders together in one forum. This is a rather exciting event and offers an opportunity to learn and share about how to engage with the representatives of the AGCO.

The CGAO was also invited to sit on a panel moderated by Mr. Tom Mungham, which we have duly accepted.

1346 – Suggested Promotional Themes - 2017

Please find attached a list of potential promotional theme dates that may have some value in planning your marketing/promoting events for 2017. The highlight of the year will be Canada Day, which will celebrate 150 years in 2017. This offers tremendous opportunities in the lead up, etc.

Please contact and leverage the deep knowledge and experience of our suppliers who could assist you in this area.

1347 – Responsible Gaming - Update

Last Thursday, 1st December, I held the last of my 2016 quarterly meetings with the RG-C and OLG on the progress of Responsible Gaming Engagement within our Centres.

I was delighted with the feedback and continued steady progress that our Centre Staff & RG-C Field teams are making in this area. These quarterly meetings have become extremely important in our business calendar. It offers a chance to measure our initiatives while flagging future strategies we may be engaging in as we seek the best path to deploy them, which meets our business environment and resources.

The highlight was the increased touch-points for the first half of the year, just short collectively of 14k, which represented +9% over the same period in 2015. This is complemented by the design re-fresh underway on the RG-Kiosk to Play-Smart and re-branded RG brochures.

I want to publicly acknowledge the contribution and partnership of Ms. Paula Antoniazzi – Director (RG-C) and Ms. Shelli Donofio- RG Co-ordinator (OLG) for their contribution, hard work and efforts and partnership in this important area of the business.

1348 – Marketing Campaign - Fun Re-invented

Over the last few weeks a marketing campaign has been airing across the province on numerous advertising platforms [print, radio, TV, and digital] promoting c-Gaming with the by- line ‘Fun Re-invented’, which is targeted at non-traditional consumers.

I am encouraged by the number of times I have heard the ads and references that people I know have mentioned to me as they know I am in the gaming sector. If this is about awareness then it is certainly ticking that box and may be able to get some new/lapsed consumers to come back and check us out.

I do want to acknowledge Ms. Mary O’Neill and team (c-Gaming OLG) for all their hard work and efforts in driving this to market. We look forward to reviewing the measurements and results, but early indicators show it is encouraging.

Well Done, c-Gaming [OLG] Marketing.

1349 – Marketing Campaign - All For Here

The OLG corporate marketing initiative is underway around the province. This reflects all lines of the OLG business and contribution to the various communities.

c-Gaming is inter-linked to this campaign with ‘Courage Happens Here’. This is available in the Marketing Tool-box for internal use to support the program and community efforts generally.

1350 – Dolphin Gaming Centre

I wanted to acknowledge the continuing work undertaken by the Dolphin Gaming Centre. Due to the success they have been experiencing, it has been confirmed that an additional eight (8) Charity Organizations will join the Centre Charity Association and they are still seeking additional groups to join their ranks. The additional Charity Organizations are co-ordinated through the OCGA and City of Toronto staff.

The other important benchmark that will be reached, based on the current trends, is by the end of the financial year Dolphin Gaming Centres contribution to the city will exceed the old method of 3% licence fee, which is a tremendous success on two fronts.

Congratulations to Paul Nitsopoulos [Dolphin Gaming Centre], his Charity Association and the OLG c-Gaming Team on this achievement.
